VOYAGE HIGHLIGHTS
On a sailing voyage we never use the word itinerary, as skippers will always be aiming for the best sailing and shore landings for the forecast and most idyllic or sheltered anchors and ports. They are as keen as you to include some of the highlights describe, but you have to go with Mother Nature, not fight her. The description below is based on what we think might be possible, based on past trips, or experience, but nothing is guaranteed on a sailing voyage. Join us for a short delivery voyage from Greenock – Liverpool and stay on board TS Maybe in Liverpool, helping out with the maintenance of a traditional tall ship.Learn some new skills, experience life at sea and life as a crew member on board a classic tall ship.
Maybe Sailing is an experienced provider of residential activities. We operate within a structure of Standard Operating Procedures and Policies. Every year our vessels are inspected by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and we carry all the required life saving appliances and medical supplies to certify the vessel to Category 0 standards. This means that the vessel can is certified to sail anywhere in the world!
All activities have been risk assessed and we can provide copies of these assessments, as well as vessel and insurance certification, on request.
Maybe Sailing is an approved provider for many local educational authorities. Our staff are experienced in working with young people as well as in seamanship and all have enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checks. They will work with everyone on your voyage to ensure that you have a safe and really enjoyable adventure at sea.
All trainees receive full safety briefings before the boat leaves the port. This includes briefing in life saving appliances, life-jackets and what to do in emergency situations on board.

How to get to Liverpool
Liverpool is a large city in the North West of England, serviced by an international airport and great rail and bus links. Once you arrive in the city centre, make your way down to the waterfront where you will find Tall Ship Maybe berthed in the Albert Dock, usually opposite the Maritime Museum.
Air
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is only nine miles from Liverpool city centre and offers over 60 inbound UK and European routes. Carriers such as easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, FlyBe and Blue Air offer convenient and cost effective air travel from most major European cities.
Manchester Airport is only 45 minutes from Liverpool city centre and offers many direct long haul routes in to the North West. Carriers include British Airways, Emirates, Etihad and KLM.
Rail
Travelling to Liverpool by train has never been easier or faster, when it’s only 2 hours 13 minutes from Central London on Virgin Trains’ state-of-the-art tilting Pendolino trains.
London Midland Trains, Transpennine Express and Northern Rail also run routes into Liverpool from all major UK cities.

From Glasgow: around 35 minutes (23 miles)
James Watt Dock Marina is located off the main M8/A8 road to Greenock. Once through Port Glasgow, continue on the A8 following signs for Greenock. At the traffic lights between the Arnold Clark Vauxhall and Ford garages continue straight on then take a right hand turn at the next set of traffic lights.
From Glasgow Central: around 40 minutes)
Cartsdyke Station is approximately 10 minutes walk from the marina and provides a frequent service between Glasgow Central and Gourock. There are two trains per hour from Cartsdyke to Glasgow at 17 and 47 minutes past the hour and from Glasgow at 05 and 55 minutes past the hour. Times may vary at peak hours and on weekends/bank holidays. We would recommend that you check train times before travel.
To reach the Station
From Cartsdyke Station: around 10 minutes (400m)
From the entrance to James Watt Dock cross the main A8 at the pedestrian lights turn right and proceed along the main road, passing the Volkswagen garage and turning left into Macdougall Street. The station is at the end of this street. Platform 1 is for all Glasgow trains, Platform 2 for Greenock/Gourock.
By Air
The marina is around 20 minutes from Glasgow Airport and 1 hour from Edinburgh Airport where hire cars are readily available. Follow the road directions for travel by road.
Alternatively there is a link bus from the airport to Paisley Gilmour Street Station from where there is a half hourly train service to Cartsdyke Station.
